ABOUT ALIX

Alix Holloway is a private art dealer, advisor, appraiser, and founder of AH Arts LLC. With over a decade of experience in the secondary market at James Goodman Gallery (closed December 31, 2020), she has built a completely new practice on the core principles to advise clients on all aspects of collecting and selling art with an unwavering commitment to integrity, connoisseurship, and professionalism.

To AH Arts LLC, Alix brings deep art historical knowledge, keen market insights, and established relationships. She has a particular strength and aptitude for uncovering the hidden gems; to source clients’ long sought-after works of art and to negotiate a fair price. Having bought and sold artworks ranging from a 1932 Picasso painting to major 1960s de Koonings to Lichtenstein works on paper to Kusama Infinity Net paintings, Alix knows the research, due diligence, and thorough evaluations needed in Modern and Post-War markets.

In addition to her on-going AH Arts LLC program of seasonal exhibitions of new acquisitions, she previously co-organized many notable exhibitions at James Goodman Gallery, including Matisse and The Model: The Sensuous Line, Dubuffet: Form & Texture, Kusama: Paintings, Sculptures and works on paper, and Reframing the Brushstroke: Kline to Lichtenstein, Hofmann to Dine. Her curatorial experience extends to independent projects, where for years, Alix has organized summer exhibitions of emerging art in collaborative spaces.

It is her privilege to have worked with, and to continue to work with, great mentors and incredible works of art that transcend generations - to help children and grandchildren navigate the responsibilities of caring for works that outlive us. Embracing this sense of history, with multigenerational client relationships and vast ongoing collector awareness, is crucial to placing works in fitting collections for decades to come.

Alix Holloway holds a master’s degree in Visual Arts Administration from New York University and served as the president of the Alumni Council for five years. She is a native of Phoenix, AZ, and holds a BFA in Printmaking, BA in Art History, and BS in Marketing from Arizona State University. She lives in Chelsea, one block from the gallery, with her husband, twin boys, and mini Australian Sheperd.
